Course Grade for Physics 33.151

Your course grade will be based on your exams, project, quizzes, homework and attendance. The project counts the same as an exam, so if you do this, then your lowest exam score will be dropped as described below. If you decide not to do the project, then your grade will be computed using only your exam scores. The following table lists the percentage of your grade that each component can contribute.

There will be no final exam, rather the project will be due during finals week. There will be nine chapter exams, of which the lowest score will be dropped, so each of the counted exams will account for 6.25% of your final grade. There will also be five short quizzes, each worth 1% of your final grade.

Your total grade will be computed by taking your exam scores as discussed above, and then adding your project, assignment scores, quiz scores and attendance scores. The total grade will then be normalized to 1000 points. Your grade will be determined on an absolute scale. It is possible that we may need to adjust the cut-offs downward, but they will not be raised above these levels. These levels are given as follows.

Your grade will be A if your score is between 890 and 1000 points.
Your grade will be B if your score is between 760 and 889 points.
Your grade will be C if your score is between 600 and 759 points.
Your grade will be D if your score is between 470 and 599 points.
Your grade will be R if your score is less than 470 points.
